Nigeria/Cameroun, October 1989 (IWHC Project)
Work under Carnegie and Rockefeller grants totaling $300,000, was taken up by Andrea Irvin and Janice Jiggins. Irvin, Jiggins, and Germain's visit to Nigeria September, 1989 reviewed consultant reports on women's organizations, proposals for work on cervical cancer and program development possibilities. The September staff trip confirmed earlier assessments that IWHC should focus on women. Support for work with the following aims is likely: strengthening women's public voice on their health, strengthening women's own understanding of reproductive health issues affecting them, and increasing public understanding of the issues and improving the climate of opinion.
