Germain reviewed in January two projects with which IWHC might collaborate, or which the MacArthur Foundation might fund: SEARCH (Society for Education Action and Research in Community Health), in drought-prone central India, which is doing pioneering work in rural women's health, including M.R., gynecological disease, and violence; and Parivar Seva Sangstha (originally Marie Stopes) which has 24 ubran abortion and reproductive health clinics across India.
