On more than one occasion, some of the concepts that we were discussing: “sexual health,” “sexuality”—these are words that are not easily translatable in some of the official languages of the UN. Plus, you had pressure exerted on the individual interpreters by others, right. I remember, on more than one occasion, we had both Spanish and Arabic interpreters that were having enormous personal pressure put on them to translate a word one way and not another.
