Program development under Carnegie and Rockefeller grants totaling $300,000. Andrea Irvin and Janice Jiggins visited Nigeria three times and Cameroun twice to develop proposals for work on three themes: strengthening women's public voice on their health, strengthening women's own understanding of reproductive health issues affecting them, and increasing public understanding of the issues and improving the climate of opinion. New African colleagues have been identified and grant proposals finalized (details below). Proposals for two-year grant renewals submitted to Carnegie (approved in October) and Rockefeller (December decision).
