Dr. Ladipo's preliminary report, February 1989, concludes that costs of a nationwide screening program are too expensive and that emphasis should be on public education and prevention. He recommends modest support for one or two carefully designed and documented cervical cancer screening and/or treatment projects to provide information for the future. Proposals for colposcopy at UCH-Ibadan, and screening programs by LUTH-Lagos and the Medical Women's Association under staff review.
