Program development under Carnegie and Rockefeller grants totalling $300,000. Andrea Irvin and Janice Jiggins visited Nigeria three times and Cameroun twice to develop proposals for work on three themes: strengthening women's public voice on their health; strengthening women's own understanding of reproductive health issues affecting them; and increasing public understanding of the issues and improving the climate of opinion. New African colleagues have been identified and great proposals finalized (details below). Proposals for two-year grant renewals submitted to Carnegie (approved in October) and Rockefeller (approved in December).
