Two-year, $30,000 grant (Population Crisis Committee) started October 1, 1987 to complement leveraged grant of $50,000 from Ford/Jakarta for public education activities on reproductive rights. IWHC technical assistance provided with partial support of 1987-1989 ISSA program included meetings to generate research on reproductive health, launching of a national grassroots women's health network, monitoring existing and pending legislation that threatens reproductive rights, and producing a women's health newsletter. ISSA currently member of planning committee for 1990 International Meeting on Women's Health to be held in the Philippines. Bangser visited May, 1989 to evaluate 1987-1989 program and assist in design of 1989-1991 program. ISSA's new two-year program proposal ($150,000) well received by the Ford Foundation who will consider a grant of $100,000. Discussions on-going between IWHC, Ford Foundation and other donors on broader program and funding needs in the Philippines.
