A seven-month grant of $20,000 for several public education activities was made in April 1989: 1. $13,400 for a second national meeting on Women and Health planned for October 1989 which will bring together primarily women's groups, some family planning professionals and health practitioners. 2. $2,000 in partial support of a public education campaign on the proposed US-AID/Peru population strategy which de-emphasizes the "cafeteria" approach to method choice in favor of funding for and emphasis on long term methods (e.g., immediate post-partum and post-abortion sterilization), and de-emphasizes funding for informational and educational activities on reproductive health. 3. $1,500 to support a bulletin on maternal morbidity/mortality as one of several activities for the International Day of Action on Women's Health. 4. $3,100 to cover overhead costs for organizing these activities.
