Twenty-six month, $140,000 grant from Ford/Dhaka started October 1, 1985 for technical assistance to MRSTP, MFSTC, BWHC, and BAPSA. B.J. Kay visit, February 1989, provided technical assistance to BWHC on research agenda, computer needs, work plans for BWHC next three-year program. Germain and Bangser visited January 1989 for meetings with BWHC, other M.R. organizations, donors, government. Staff assisting MRTSP/MFSTC to raise $1.2 million from SIDA for their 1989-1990 programs, for equipment for government M.R. services, and for continued IWHC technical assistance. SIDA has agreed and has sent IWHC draft agreement, but Government of Bangladesh has not yet approved. Staff visit in January 1989 resulted in important step forward: Ministry of Health approval of MRTSP and MFSTC as government projects. No further word has been received.
